The goal: Create an outside room – inside the home. The solution: A 300 square foot ‘Pool Room’ that transitions the home pool side, and a 229 square foot ‘Pool House’ that conceals all equipment and reveals pool-side conveniences. Mirroring the exterior style of the home, both new features were constructed and finished with materials that make them seamless with the existing home. In the Pool Room, walls of uninterrupted low-E windows, including ones bracing on the gable ends, join at a glass overhead door that rises to reveal the pool’s edge. Inside, skylights and recessed pot lights float in a maple-planked vaulted ceiling providing a beach-house feel. The gas fireplace sets the mood and offers warmth for water-logged kids. Blue back-painted glass countertop and subway tiles in the pool house bathroom and a tiled outdoor shower keep all required “waterworks” just steps from the pool.
